This is a story about being an “older” woman backpacking that I’ve been mulling over for a while.
This spring, three of my backpacking friends and I did a glamping/hiking trip to Charit Creek in Big South Fork Tennessee. We stayed in one of the tiny, one-room rustic cabins, and day hiked the beautiful trails. We. Had. A. BLAST! Beautiful hiking during the day; campfire, wine, girl talk, and belly laughs each evening. We talked to everyone we met, sharing our passion for hiking.
A couple of families were there at the same time. Just before they left, one of the moms came over to us and said, “We’ve been watching you all weekend and you’re just ADORABLE!”! The other mom said, “I hope I have friends just like you when I’m your age!”
…and here we were, thinking we were all badass ’n stuff… Hahaha!!
Well, sisters… we maybe “adorable” but we’re still badass, too. Just stand back and watch!
Here’s and “ussie” of our adorable, badass selves. Ages 62 to 72:
